YPARD has designed a unique peer to peer mentoring programme. By providing a platform for you, to share your skills with other YPARD members, match with others whom you will learn from, and share experiences with a wider network of members, the programme will also include coaching sessions on specific issues of concern to the clusters of peers that will be involved.
From October 10-13, Youth have gathered in Benin for a conference on innovation and agriculture called "Youth entrepreneurs – agents of change”, organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
‘’It is better to prepare a youth who has long future ahead of her, than to repair an adult who has fallen along the way,’’ a group discussion on leadership and innovation was told at the Benin Youth Innovation Workshop/fair in Cotonou.

The Daily Monitor published an online article called "Involve youth in agricultural devt to solve the economic crisis" by Barbara N. Karugonjo on October 4, 2011.
In her article, Karugonjo concludes:
"It is essential that the government reforms the education curriculum (...) towards integrating agriculture in education curriculum and changing the mindset of our youth to (...) encourage them to explore untapped opportunities in the agriculture sector. This is important because youth can play a significant role in acting as catalysts for change to agricultural development (...)."

It is widely accepted that educational establishments should prepare students for the job market as well as providing a general education. It is also generally accepted that present curricula do not adequately provide young professionals with the skills they need when they start on a career in ARD. Immediate changes are needed in the very short term as well as for the future.
The Learning Center of the EC-FAO Programme on Linking Information and Decision Making to Improve Food Security offers self-paced e-learning courses on a wide range of Food Security related topics.

While traditional mentoring processes focus on the benefits derived for the junior mentor, from the experience of the senior mentor, YPARD is looking to promote a 2-way mentoring process which benefits both subjects who are possibly of the same age group.
