Call for young professional discussants for the young researchers’ seminar 25th-30th March 2010 in Montpellier, France

From the 25th-30th March 2010 the French Initiative for International Agricultural Research and Agropolis International are organizing the first biennial seminar for young researchers in the field of agriculture with the support of the Young Professionals’ Platform for Agricultural Research for Development (YPARD). The seminar will bring together 40 young researchers, doctoral and post doctoral students to dialogue and to establish links.
The organisers are now inviting applications for six young professionals to be discussants during this event and to reflect on the papers presented by the young researchers. Discussants are expected to be active in agriculture and to represent a broad range of stakeholders. The organisers will provide travel and accommodation for successful applicants.
Applications are invited from individuals who fulfil the following qualifications:
• Member of YPARD or willing to become one
• Young professional: 40 years old or below
• Part of one or a combination of the following stakeholders’ group:
– Farmers' Organizations
– Non Governmental Organizations
– Agri-entrepreneurs / private sector
– Donors and Development Agencies
– the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research Centres (CGIAR) and Non-CGIAR International Agricultural Research Centres
– National Agricultural Research Organisations from the south and north (NARS)
• Demonstrated passion and commitment for agricultural development and change
• Track record of being involved in research or development issues in their countries
• Good command of English / French-
