This is how it works:
- Become a GIST member (the membership is free)
- Upload your video
- Get votes on YouTube
- Be among 25 semi-finalists to receive individualized coaching and present your idea at two-day GIST entrepreneurship workshop/award ceremony event in Amman, Jordan
- Be selected for GIST Prize.
GIST 1st Runner-up: a $10,000 grant will be awarded to the top runner-up.
GIST 2nd runner-ups: four $5,000 grants will be awarded to the next four runner-ups.
GIST Honorable Mentions: five $2,000 grants will be awarded to the next tier of runner-ups.
Competition Deadline: October 31, 2011
Eligibility Criteria
- All applicants, including all members of a team must be legal residents of one of the GIST eligible countries.
- Applicants can be individuals or teams, but a team must designate a team leader, who will be the sole point-of-contact for the competition and be awarded any and all grant monies. Each team or applicant can only enter the competition once, with one video submission.
- All applicants in a team must register as members of the GIST network.
- Applicants or teams cannot be incorporated as existing business.
- Submitted ideas must have potential to become actual technology solutions.
- Applicants must demonstrate plans to advance their technology idea toward a commercial application.
- U.S. citizens, regardless in what country they reside, are not eligible to apply to this competition.
- Any persons employed by CRDF Global or any of its affiliates, or are employed by the US Department of State are not eligible to apply to this competition.
