Call for Abstracts: 3rd International Conference on: Neglected and Underutilized Species (NUS)

The 3rd International Conference on Neglected and Underutilized Species (NUS): For a Food-Secure Africa will take place in Accra, Ghana, from 25 to 27 September 2013. The conference, co-organized by Bioversity International, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ghana and a range of international partners, brings together research and development experts, private sector actors, policy makers and others interested in helping poor farmers to use so-called minor crops to improve their livelihoods and well being.

The 3rd International Conference on Neglected and Underutilized Species (NUS): For a Food-Secure Africa will take place in Accra, Ghana, from 25 to 27 September 2013. Abstracts are invited on the following conference themes:

  • Theme 1: Resilience of agricultural and livelihood systems
    a) Diversification for food security in Sub-Saharan Africa
    b) NUS for nutrition and health
  • Theme 2: Upgrading value chains of neglected and underutilized species
  • Theme 3: Creating an enabling policy environment
    a) Policy frameworks
    b) Capacity development and institutions
    c) Partnership, projects, platforms

Kindly submit your Abstract by 15 July, 2013 to email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Click here to register for the conference. The organizers will sponsor the travel and/or accommodation of a small number of authors of abstracts. The support is needs-based and will be allocated to national scientists in Sub-Saharan Africa based on quality of submitted abstract, and gender and country representation. Partial sponsorship will be given priority.
