This is a new series of online short courses, launched in 2015, focusing on different aspects of commons: their management, governance and sustainability. The courses will be delivered jointly by the Countryside and Community Research Institute of the University of Gloucestershire (UK) and the Instituto de Investigaciones Sociales, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IIS-UNAM), in both English and Spanish, under the auspices of the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC). Registered students will be given an Associate Student number and be able to access the course materials via the internet.There are no special IT requirements in order to be able to access the materials.

Uniqueness
- This is the first online programme aimed specifically at raising awareness of commons issues around the globe.

- It will benefit practitioners and policy makers working in a wide variety of locations, enabling them to access the course at times most suitable to their individual situation.
- Participants will be provided with access to a wide range of materials on commons, and will be able to discuss complex issues with tutors and other participants through on-line discussion
- No need to worry about time differences between the UK and your location, on-line discussions are managed over a period of days to allow people around the globe to engage with questions and respond to comments
- On-line delivery reduces the costs of participation
