Invitation for Research Concept Notes for Funding by NASF

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is currently inviting concept Notes for projects on research proposals on basic and strategic research in the areas of Agricultural Sciences (including livestock and fishery sciences). The project will be funded by National Agricultural Science Fund (NASF).

Research projects will be selected through a three stage competition – Concept Notes, Pre-Proposal and then the Full Research Proposals developed from the pre-proposals.

Priority Areas

  1. Genomics and transgenic in plants, animals and fisheries,
  2. Conservation agriculture and climate change,
  3. Abiotic and biotic stresses and quality traits in plants, animals and fisheries,
  4. Water quality and productivity,
  5. Alternate energy for agriculture,
  6. Micronutrients and their use efficiency,
  7. Precision and controlled-environment agriculture,
  8. Use of nanotechnology for agriculture and studies on environmental safety of this technology,
  9. RNAi gene silencing technology,
  10. Minimization of agricultural waste and maintenance of product quality,
  11. Improvement of fibre quality in fibre crops,
  12. Mechanization in field crops and horticulture
  13. Research in Social Sciences,
  14. Development of pod borer resistance in pulses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Proposals of projects of three to five years of duration can be submitted by any institution (public, private, or civil society) with proven and relevant research capacity.
  • Any one institute cannot submit  more than six (6) Concept Notes as the lead institution.
  • Any University or Deemed to be University of ICAR (IARI, IVRI, NDRI, CIFE) and can submit up to fifteen (15) Concept Notes.
  • The proponents must ensure that they are not involved as PI/ CCPI in more than two extramural projects (three including the proposed proposal).

Note

A scientist who has been awarded a project of NASF as the Principal Investigator (Pl)and the project is likely to continue beyond 30th June 2016 should not submit a Concept Note in response to this call.
