The Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development is jointly implemented by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

The Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development is jointly implemented by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

The programme supports research for development aimed at solving global problems in poor countries. It consists of five thematic modules and a module for research without pre-defined topics.  The program promotes transnational research on the reduction of poverty and the provision of health, climate stability, biodiversity, water, food security, and other public goods.

The programme announces its first calls for proposals.  One is for (i) thematically open research; the other is for (ii) research that addresses social conflicts in the context of weak public institutions.

Research partnerships comprise Swiss research groups working in collaboration with research groups from developing countries.

Eligibility criteria and application guidelines are included in the calls for proposals. The deadline for pre-proposals is 08 October 2012.
