The Danube Transnational Programme includes major components for environment and energy. Environmental focus areas are: (i) strengthen transnational water management and flood risk prevention; (ii) foster sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage and resources; (iii) foster the restoration and management of ecological corridors; and (iv) improve preparedness for environmental risk management. The energy focus areas are: (i) support environmentally-friendly and safe transport systems and balanced accessibility of urban and rural areas; and (ii) improve energy security and energy efficiency. Eligibility to participate extends to multiple Danube countries, five of which are not EU Member States (Bosnia and Herzegovina; Moldova; Montenegro; Serbia; and parts of Ukraine). However, lead partners must be located in the EU countries. The deadline for expressions of interest is 03 November 2015.
