European Commission Horizon 2020 -- Sustainable Food Security 2016

The Horizon 2020 program of research and innovation includes topics that are suitable for international cooperation. This includes cooperation in several projects of sustainable food security (SFS). Project SFS-02 will explore the benefits of species diversity in cropping systems. SFS-06 will research strategies, tools, and technologies for weed management.  SFS-09 aims to improve the prevention, early detection, and control of Xylella fastidiosa in hosts and vectors. SFS-11 will develop integrated approaches for the management of important pests and diseases of perennial tropical and sub-tropical crops.  SFS-12 will consolidate international research in the area of infectious animal diseases, including zoonoses and parasites, and related issues such as anti-microbial resistance. SFS-14 will improve knowledge of the pathogen-host-environment triangle in the spread of major diseases affecting terrestrial livestock.  SFS-24 will reinforce cooperation between Europe and Southeast Asia on sustainable aquaculture. SFS-41 and SFS-42 will support EU-African partnerships on increased productivity and improved innovation systems in African agriculture.  SFS-44 and SFS-45 will fund EU research with China on diversified legumes and on transparency of processed agri-food products in China.   The deadline for proposals is 17 February 2016.
