The HIVOS Green Society Program supports themes in sustainable food and renewable energy. In Sustainable Food, HIVOS makes grants to strengthen smallholder farming for productive and sustainable agriculture, agricultural biodiversity, and resilience to climate change. In Renewable Energy, the focus areas are advocacy campaigns; carbon finance; and small-scale projects in biogas, clean cookstoves, and other renewable energy for poor and marginalized populations. HIVOS organizes and manages most of its grant funding by regions.
