The International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) is pleased to announce that a limited number of stipends are available to attend IAIA12 in Porto, Portugal, 27 May – 1 June 2012.

A defining issue throughout human history has been how societies have pursued the supply and management of energy. Impact assessments have scrutinized thousands of energy projects, but few have considered the long-term future supply and sources of non-renewable and renewable energy as critical to decision-making. Now, however, the basic principle of limitless energy is under challenge.

Applicants must be
- African nationals employed in Africa
- working for government, industry, or NGOs/civil society, and
- working with or in the extractive industries sector in the field of impact assessment or related areas.
