The research group BioDIVA at the Leibniz University Hannover seeks to appoint a Research fellow (Entg Gr. 13 TV-L) for the next possible date until Jan 2014.
BioDIVA is attached to the Institute of Environmental Planning at the Leibniz University Hannover and is funded by the BMBF within the framework of social-ecological research. Using an inter- and transdisciplinary approach, BioDIVA develops transformation knowledge for gender-equitable and sustainable use of biodiversity for rice-farming-systems in Kerala, India.BioDIVA cooperates with MSSRF/India, GIZ/Germany and IFPRI/USA.
Tasks include
- Analyse the effects of changes in land use patterns on complex social-ecological systems and consequences for agrobiodiversity
- Integration of economic, ecologic and social dimensions of land use change in GIS-based mapping
- Conducting, documenting and analysing scenario and policy workshops
- Inter- and transdisciplinary synthesis of natural und social science data generated by team members
Expected qualifications
- A degree, preferably Ph.D., in environmental sciences, geography or an interdisciplinary profile, preferably with a focus on developing countries
- Experience and interest in applying participatory approaches
- Good working knowledge of English and German
- Organisational and intercultural communication skills
- Overseas experience; ability and motivation to travel
