Environmental Economist

The Environment Directorate (ENV) is looking for an Environmental Economist with particular expertise in the interactions of trade and environmental policies. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Head of the Environment and Economy Integration (EEI) Division and will contribute to the Division’s work on trade and environment, as well as on other issues such as resource productivity, and environmental policy design and evaluation.

Job responsibilities

The Environmental Economist will perform the following functions;

  • Study the linkages between environmental and economic policies, with particular focus on trade and environment policy interactions. Other topics may include resource productivity, and environmental policy design and evaluation. The exact topics covered will vary over time according to the Programme of Work defined by the Environment Policy Committee.
  • Draft reports on selected environmental policy topics for consideration by Committees and Working Parties, or for publication
  • Assist in developing the necessary analytical, empirical and data foundations to address the linkages between environmental and economic policies.
