Applications are invited for 7 of the 14 positions as members of the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority, established by Regulation (EC) N. 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 January 2002, laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety. The Authority is located in Parma, Italy. The term of the mandate will be four years (1 July 2018 - 30 June 2022).

The call for expressions of interest is published in the Official Journal of the European Union : OJ C 92 of 24 March 2017.

The WTO Secretariat maintains a limited internship programme for post-graduate university students wishing to gain practical experience and deeper knowledge of the multilateral trading system. Only a limited number of such internship posts is available. Assignments given to interns are intended to enhance interns’ knowledge and understanding of the WTO and of trade policy more generally. However, the needs of the Division recruiting an intern will be paramount in determining the precise nature of assignments.

The EC will make grants to coordinate with China on its revised wildlife protection law, which calls on government at all levels to strengthen publicity, education, and awareness raising on wildlife protection and to support civil society organisations in doing so. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs in EU member states and in other eligible countries that are engaged in wildlife protection, and that have cooperation arrangements with the State Forestry Administration of China. UNAOC 2017 Fellowship   The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is pleased to launch the Call for Applications for the 2017 edition of its Fellowship Program. The Call is open to participants between 25 to 35 years old, from the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and North America, with a strong interest in intercultural exchanges. The theme of the Fellowship 2017 being “The role of civil society and the media in combatting hatred and fostering inclusion”, candidates must also be able to present professional achievements in these fields.

The Call will lead to the selection of young civil society leaders and professionals from Europe, North-America (EUNA) on one end, and from the Middle East and North-Africa (MENA) on the other end. Participants from each geographic area will travel to their counterparts’ region.

The consultant shall deliver the following outputs during the execution of the assignment: a) agreed upon workplan and process on how to carry out the assignment; b) AFAAS M&E system; processes and plan developed; c) M&E methods and tools for data collection, analysis and reporting produced; d) set up of CF information system for monitoring implementation of 2017 AWP&B; e) detailed M&E quarterly monitoring and evaluation reports; with clear activities and outputs with bi-annual update of results framework; f) detailed final M&E report; highlighting outputs, recommendations and suggestions for the general AFAAS M&E improvement.

 

The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL) is a full-text and searchable database of articles from high-quality research journals in agriculture and related sciences, housed at Cornell University in the USA. TEEAL is an offline tool, not requiring internet or a phone line. For eligible universities and research institutions in low-income EU-ACP countries (Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific), CTA in the Netherlands will provide the initial investment for the TEEAL base collection (equivalent to US$5 thousand) and the update in the following year. RUFORUM’s program for Graduate Training Assistantships (GTA) announces support for 325 PhD training opportunities during the next five years. The GTA aims to improve the quality of higher education and increase the pool of PhD academic staff in RUFORUM’s member universities by facilitating cross-university PhD studies and teaching. Applicants need to be nominated for PhD training by his/her university. RUFORUM Secretariat assists in facilitating placement of the nominated staff to universities with the appropriate fields of the required training. The GTA accepts rolling applications (no deadline). The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy, starting as soon as possible.

Bretton Woods committee

The Program on Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy invites applications for its 2017 thesis fellowships. Fellowships will be awarded in the amounts of US$5 thousand for master’s theses, and US$10 thousand for doctoral theses, to students at universities in Latin America and North America who are in the mid to final stages of their thesis work. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) calls for applications for a five-year project to address environmental degradation and loss of tree cover in Haiti. The objective is to provide environmental services in targeted forest areas in support of food security and resilience. The Energy Small Grants Programme provides funding for renewable energy and energy efficiency in participating countries of the Oceania region. These energy projects should be coupled with strong linkages to biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. Applications are invited from communities, civil society organisations, and private enterprises. The participating countries are Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Funding is up to US$20 thousand. The deadline for applications is 01 June 2017. Link

The Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with the Mekong Region (EEP Mekong) is funded by Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs to improve access to sustainable energy in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. EEP Mekong offers grants to facilitate project preparation in the participating countries. The focus of preparation support will be feasibility studies on clean energy, particularly bioenergy and W2E projects, in both the public and private sectors. Other types of preparation support (cost-benefit analysis, environmental impact studies, etc.) will be considered case-by-case. EEP Mekong will fund up to 80% of the feasibility studies or other preparation costs. Proposed projects should have a minimum capital investment of €500 thousand.
