Opportunities

Postdoc in Biogeochemistry - University of Arizona, USA

They especially seek candidates with experience in synchrotron-based X-ray methods for molecular characterization of biomolecular C and N compounds (e.g., C and N XANES techniques) in mineral mixtures.

The University of Arizona, in Tucson, AZ USA,  has a job opening for a Postdoctoral Scientist Position in Biogeochemistry.

The University of Arizona’s Biosphere 2 is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to conduct spectroscopic studies of organo-mineral complexes that are formed during bio-weathering of granular rock mediated by plant-microbe interactions.

Requirement qualification

  • a Ph.D. in biogeochemistry or a closely related field, with prior experience in molecular to grain-scale characterization of natural geomedia.

Desired qualification

  • a focus on organic matter-mineral surface interactions in low temperature weathering systems, including molecular spectroscopy approaches to examining the accumulation of organic adsorbate on mineral surfaces.

They especially seek candidates with experience in synchrotron-based X-ray methods for molecular characterization of biomolecular C and N compounds (e.g., C and N XANES techniques) in mineral mixtures.

The project will involve close collaboration with another project postdoctoral scientist who is focusing on other aspects of system geochemistry and microbiology.

How to apply

Interested candidates should send an electronic application letter, curriculum vitae, transcripts, and names and addresses of three references to Dr. Katerina Dontsova at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The successful candidate will be jointly supervised by Drs. Dontsova, Jon Chorover, Travis Huxman, and Raina Maier.

The Position is open immediately. University of Arizona is committed to diversity and welcomes applications from minority group members, women, and persons with disabilities.
