The FAO has opportunity for two professional positions that have become vacant in the Independent Science & Partnership Council [ISPC] Secretariat.
The senior of the two positions will also be advertised in the Economist later in March.
The deadline for applications is the 10th of April.
1. Senior Agriculture Officer (Agricultural Research)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the CGIAR Independent Science and Partnership Council (ISPC), will provide technical support to ISPC and its Standing Panel(s), working groups, and task forces. In particular will:
- monitor and advise on global and regional agricultural research trends, agricultural scientific challenges and agricultural science & technology policy issues;
- promote recognition of the quality, relevance and impact of science in the CGIAR identifying opportunities for enhancing the collaboration and stimulating global research towards CGIAR goals;
- develop and maintain partnership with national and regional research bodies, including advanced research institutions and private sector to support the mobilization of science related to CGIAR goals;
- lead the planning and organization of meetings of the ISPC, its specialized panels and ad hoc workshops;
- provide a critical review and analysis, reviewing program plans and highlighting programmatic and technical issues for ISPC’s consideration;
- prepare, analyse and review documentation (ISPC publications, reports, communication activities, etc.)
- represent the Secretariat at meetings concerned with international agricultural research, as required.
2. Agriculture Officer (Agricultural Reserach)
?Duties and Resonsibilities
Secretariat and direct supervision of a Senior Officer, will provide technical support to the ISPC Secretariat, backstopping the technical activities of the working groups and task forces of the ISPC. In particular, will:
- contribute to the recognition of the quality, relevance and impact of science in CGIAR identifying opportunities for enhancing the collaboration and stimulating global research towards CGIAR goals;
- assist the ISPC interact with national and regional research bodies, for enhancing the collaboration and stimulating global research towards CGIAR goals;
- participate in the planning and organization of technical meetings of the ISPC, its specialized CGIAR panels and ad hoc workshops and seminars;
- prepare, analyze and review documentation;
- contribute to the ISPC’s communication strategy including the management of the ISPC website and other electronic media;
