Technologies and Practices for Small Agricultural Producers
About TECA
TECA stands for Technologies and Practices for Small Agriculture Producers (TECA), which aims to improve access to practical information specifically for smallholders, extension and advisory services, development practitioners, producer organizations and producers themselves. TECA is FAOs web-based knowledge repository of applied technologies and practices in English, French and Spanish on different agricultural themes and practices from around the world to support small producers in the field. It also offers users the ability to comment on technologies of their interest. In the online forums (Farmer Innovation Exchange or the Beekeeping Groups), users can exchange on topic of the group, knowledge and experiences.
TECAs partners and technical divisions within FAO provide information on validated agricultural technologies and practices. Some of TECAs most recent partners who have shared their practices on TECA are the World Agroforestry Centre, the Grameen Foundation, International Potato Centre, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and WOCAT.
Information Needs Survey
The objective of the Youth and Women in Agriculture survey is to understand the information need of young and female farmers in order to expand the TECA knowledge base with technologies and practices that specifically address their needs. We invite young producers, agriculturists, researchers and rural advisors to participate in this 5 minutes survey to share their views on the kind of information that could benefit young and female producers in agricultural production.
Deadline: 15th October, 2013.
