Next Wednesday, 16 September 2015 from 6 pm to approx. 9 pm the WFSC is hosting the premiere of “10 Milliarden – Wie werden wir alle satt?” (http://www.10milliarden-derfilm.de/), the new film of Valentin Thurn (“Taste the Waste”) together with trigon-film and the Riffraff theater. The film deals with the well-known question of how to feed 10 billion people in 2050. It touches on a broad array of issues and topics from all around the world and also brings some less discussed topics to the table. Our panelists – film director Valentin Thurn, WFSC members Michael Kreuzer (Animal Nutrition) and Astrid Oberson (Plant Nutrition) and Peter Braun from Swiss Food Research – will first make a few brief remarks about the film before the audience gets the chance to ask questions and have some discussion. The event ends with an short apéro at the Riffraff Bistro. Note: This event will be held in German.
Save the date for the second film with a discussion in ENGLISH: On 30 September 2015 from 6 pm to approx. 9 pm the WFSC will be showing the film “Fair Food” (original title “Food Chains”, www.foodchainsfilm.com). This is a new film produced by Eva Longoria and Eric Schlosser that is centered around the lives of farmworkers in the US. It focuses on the workers’ battle with the supermarket industry to accept a Fair Food program aiming to improve the working conditions for farmworkers in the US. The panel will be formed by Aimee Shreck (WFSC), Sarah Sippel (Uni Leipzig), Silva Lieberherr (Uni ZH) and hopefully a unionist. Note: The film will be shown in the original version (English/Spanish) with German subtitles, the discussion will be in ENGLISH.
Tickets: Online at 10 Milliarden | Fair Food (Food Chains) or by phone 044 444 22 00. There is a student discount (not if you buy the ticket online; bring your Legi) and the ticket includes a free drink at the apéro.
