YPARD is glad to announce the winner of the Seeing Thoughts contest!
YPARD Seeing Thoughts video competition launched in 2012 was an attempt to capture and showcase the voices of youth and their contribution to agriculture for development, whether in research, in production or assisting a community to develop a sustainable livelihood.
The contest was coupled with a learning process: the candidates were supported by a coach through two distinct stages: (1) Developing the storyboard, (2) Elaborating the video.
Themes proposed were:
Grace Wanene is the Co-founder of Youth Agro-Environmental Initiative, a non-political, non-profit organization, registered in Kenya by the ministry of Gender and Social Services .This Initiative recognizes the significance of agriculture in food security, poverty reduction, economic growth, and long-term environmental sustainability. Therefore, it promotes profitable agriculture and environment conservation for employment creation, income generation, food security, and economic sustainability in Kenya.
Grace interviewed a young farmer: Goeffrey from Kenya, who tells us about his success story.
Thumbs up to the both of them for the good work and inspiring story! Yes, agriculture can be a viable and exciting adventure!
Grace will be supported to attend a regional ARD/agricultural development event of her choice, where she would ideally be able to showcase her video as a mean to promote agriculture among the youth.
We wish to congratulate again the 3 other finalists:
Keep it up and share the video widely, to show that agriculture is the youths business!
