Africa is a home to big and potential agicultural lands that would be enough to feed all the hungry in the continent. But a huge challenge in adoption to technologies has hindered this giant to discover the potential it has to feed its people.
It amazing how small and young countries like Israel has made it possible to feed its people and export much just from rocky fields. Reflecting on how they have made it,its through huge investment in technological developmennt in faming. Talk of drip irigation, green houses and sustainable solutions to combat pest and diseases problems.
Talking of Africa, most of the arable lands have favouable climate and enough water to make productive farming!! What then makes it prone to hunger and dependency on food aid? Only one answer would describe the situation: lack of adoption of technologies suited for 21st century.
Its time for restructuring and making it happen. Young people have capability to force the adoption-through doing it and dedicatively training those who depends on the lands. The government too has to subsidize inputs so that those willing to adopt the technologies can acquire them without much strain.
With exprience from israel, you just agree that africa can feeds its people and have enough for the most susceptible.
