TED's video provides an introduction. Fellows represent essentially all fields of endeavor in the arts and sciences -- including environment, biodiversity, energy, and agriculture and food supply. The individuals selected by TED are offered conference attendance and international networking opportunities.

TED particularly encourages applications from persons aged 21-40 in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
