The Orangutan Foundation has launched the Sir Terry Pratchett “Oook” Award for the Conservation of Orangutans and Their Habitat. Applications are open to research students, veterinarians, journalists, and film makers of any nationality looking to make a contribution towards the conservation of orangutan populations within protected habitat. The award is £5 thousand. Additionally, the Foundation offers research grants of up to of £500 each to Indonesian students studying orangutan behaviour and ecology, or related rainforest field research in Indonesia. The application deadline for the Oook Award is the end of February 2016; the deadline to apply for research grants is 30 June 2016.
