The program INTERREG Balkan-Mediterranean 2014-2020 addresses the Balkan Peninsula and the Eastern Mediterranean Sea in a joint effort to contribute to the EU 2020 Strategy. The program brings together three EU member states (Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Greece) and two candidate countries (Albania and Macedonia). Priorities in the first call for proposals include the theme of environment related to management of protected areas; maritime and coastal planning; and strategies for energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, water recycling, soil protection, reduction of climate risks, and pilot projects and training programs in these subjects. Projects will range from €500 thousand to €1.5 million. Proposals need to include three to eight partners and at least three participating countries. The application deadline is 15 April 2016.
