About Me:
My research focuses on examining the limitations to using non-timber forest products for sustainable livelihood development for residents living adjacent to protected areas in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Current rates of deforestation for agriculture illustrate that management of tropical forests is a transnational issue, inexorably linked to community welfare. The solution lies in developing sustainable alternatives such as non-timber products and payments for environmental services, such as honey. My PhD aims to investigate the social, cultural, and economic opportunities and constraints to the apiary industry in supporting livelihoods for indigenous communities, and examine the transferability of these findings to other forest products and services.

Specialties: protected area management, apicultural community development and engagement, natural resources management, community consultation, qualitative research techniques.

My roles as a Casual Academic at SCU include: Teaching work at SCU has included helping to run the 3rd year subject Protected Area Management, demonstrator for Ecology, Plant Identification and Conservation and Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Support Officer.
