Training
General information
Training is a teaching and learning process aimed at strengthening local capacities. CATIE teaches more than 25 strategic courses that strengthen the abilities of leaders from public and private institutions.
Each course takes into account the needs and expectations of its participants, as well as those of the community they shall return to and carry out their work in.
One of the main objectives of each course is to promote updated knowledge, techniques and methodologies for research and direct action in the field.
Training is one of the Center’s strategic functions and is part of CATIE’s commitment to the development of agricultural and renewable natural resources of Member Countries and the Latin American region in general.
One of the general purposes of each course is institutional capacity-building at institutions and organizations dedicated to agricultural production, forestry, and the conservation of natural resources and the environment.
More than 24 000 professionals
In recent years, CATIE has trained more than 24 000 professionals through varied educational activities carried out at its headquarters and Member Countries (5 000 people per year), focusing on subjects such as Tropical Agriculture, Forest Management, Agroforestry, Watershed Management, Socio-economics, Plant Genetic Resources, Protected Areas, and Rural Development, among others.
