YPARD nigerian representative, Obadina Adewale Olusegun introduced YPARD to West African Food sciences and nutrition students. He took the opportunity of a workshop on Food and Fortification in Senegal to create awareness on YPARD and its activities.
YPARD has organized a survey last March 2011 in preparation of the developement of a mentoring program for young professionals in Agricultural Research for Development (ARD)
The Africa Day (25 May) celebrated this year in Ethiopia the theme: “Accelerating Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development.” Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General, mentionned that young people are “one of Africa’s greatest untapped resources” for promoting sustainable development.
CIAT and YPARD are strenghtening their collaboration for empowering and broadening YPARD LAC community. They asserted their conviction that information sharing among young professionals is fundamental for rural development in Latin America and Carribean. Actions are taken for the building up of a stronger YPARD LAC network to be manifest during the first semester of 2011.
Around 35 Young Professionals participated to a workshop for Young Entrepreneurs in Agricultural Business, in Kigali, Rwanda, on 26th and 27th March 2011.
