Researchers in Agriculture for International Development (RAID) is a new Australian-based network, bringing together students and early to mid-career scientists with an interest in agricultural research in developing countries.
The network was founded in late 2013 by a group of young Australian scientists, who saw an opportunity for international agricultural research to be used as tool for attracting young Australians into agriculture. The group also believed that those already involved in international agricultural research would benefit from the opportunity to connect and support one another.
RAID’s objectives are to:
To achieve these objectives, RAID has established an online platform (website, Facebook and Twitter) for knowledge and resource sharing, promoting opportunities (employment, further study and volunteer posts) and for sharing experiences.
RAID is also facilitating networking at conferences and other professional events. We will soon be holding capacity building events to meet the needs identified by our members. The success of the network will depend on the ideas, experience, knowledge and enthusiasm of our members. So c’mon, get on board and become a RAIDer.
